Maeve Awiszus won the 200 freestyle (2:01.13), the 100 freestyle (56.65) and swam on the winning 200 freestyle relay to lead Andover past archrival Haverhill 101-86 last Friday in a battle of unbeaten teams. Soojin Kim continued to star, joining Awiszus on the winning relay and taking the 200 IM and 500 freestyle for the Golden Warriors.
Soojin Kim scored victories in the 50 freestyle (27.04) and 100 freestyle (59.19) and swam on the winning 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relays as Andover held off pesky Belmont 101-84 last Wednesday, Sept. 25. Emilee Nason added wins in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle and Maeve Awiszus took the 100 backstroke and swam on the winning 400 freestyle relay.
Weber, Silveira lead win
Mike Weber made four saves for a shutout as Andover topped Central Catholic 3-0 last Tuesday, Sept. 24. Sebastian Silveira, Declan Collins and Edgar Mauge each scored a goal and Kyle Surehan had an assist for the winners.
Amit Deliwala’s first-half goal gave Andover a 1-1 tie with Lowell last Thursday, Sept. 26. Sam Kelly assisted on the goal and Mike Weber had seven saves for the Warriors.
Alois nets four
After being held off the score sheet for the first time this season two days earlier, Veronica Alois bounced back with a whopping four goals, giving her 12 in seven games, as Andover crushed Lowell 8-1 last Thursday, Sept. 26. Lily Puccia scored one goal and assisted on three others and Emily O’Hara, Maddy Pollack, and Meredith Van Antwerp each added single goals for the winners.
Despite 18 saves for Emily Wilson, Andover suffered its first loss of the season, falling to Central Catholic 5-0 last Tuesday, Sept. 24.
Kennedy, Warriors rule
Mackenzie Kennedy scored 22 service points and Chelsea Hu had 10 kills as Andover beat Masconomet 25-13, 25-10, 25-6 on Monday.
Behind eight kills for Rachel Schnakenberg and 22 assists and four aces for Azita Bakhtyari, Andover bested Central Catholic 25-8, 25-12, 25-11 last Friday. Amy Stankiewicz added four aces and Chelsea Hu had three digs for the winners.
