Krekorian, golf team score upset


Brett Krekorian fired a 36 and Nick Scarpa was right behind with a 37 to lead Andover to a 12-7 upset victory over Central Catholic last Wednesday, Oct. 9. Kellen McAuliffe (39), Ryan Burke and Tim Awiszus each added victories for the Golden Warriors.

Hunter Guidoboni earned a 1-up victory to help Andover beat Billerica 13-7 last Thursday, Oct. 10. Ryan Burke added a 5-4 win and Colleen Caveney and Tim Awiszus each halved for the winners.

Field Hockey

Schena, Leone key in win over Chelmsford

Nicole Schena made eight saves to lock down Andover’s 4-0 win over Chelmsford last Thursday, Oct. 10. Jacquelyn Leone scored two goals, Christine Aumais and Julia LeBlanc each added singles goals and Brenna Keefe had two assists for the winners.

Jacquelyn Leone and sister Jess Leone each scored a goal to lead Andover past Methuen 3-0 last Wednesday, Oct. 9. Catherine Viera added the other goal and Julia LeBlanc and Christine Aumais each added an assist for the winners.


Kenyon, Bakhtyari lead

Sarah Kenyon notched 16 service points and three aces and Wylie Boughton had eight blocks for Andover in a 25-14, 25-23, 25-20 win over North Andover last Friday. Azita Bakhtyari continued to star with 23 assists for the winners.

Rachel Schnakenberg notched 10 kills to lead Andover to a 25-6, 25-13, 25-7 drubbing of Tewksbury last Wednesday, Oct. 9. Addison Kennedy added five kills and Azita Bakhtyari chipped in with 19 service points for the winners.

Girls swimming

Murtagh takes two golds

Caroline Murtagh won the 100 breaststroke (1:18.51) and swam on the winning 200 freestyle relay as Andover got back on track by beating North Andover 100-79 last Friday. Diana Hansen took the 100 butterfly (1:10.01), Jules Teichert won the 500 freestyle (6:08.65) and Shannon Fitzsimmons took the 100 freestyle for the Warriors.

Emilee Nason won the 100 butterfly in 1:03.37, but Andover lost to rival powerhouse Acton-Boxboro 95-91 last Tuesday, Oct. 8. It snapped the Golden Warriors’ undefeated streak at 55 wins, which went back to the 2008 season. Soojin Kim (100 freestyle) and Alison Murtagh (500 freestyle) added wins for the Warriors.
