On Aug. 6 and 7, the Andover High School varsity field hockey coach, her assistants and both present and former players will host the fourth year of a field hockey clinic in memory of former player Lauren Ciampa.
Lauren was a graduate of Andover High School and a field hockey player under Coach Maureen Noone. Lauren lost her battle to cancer and, now in its fourth year, this memorial clinic has hosted more than 100 girls each year from Andover and surrounding towns.
Players will gather for two days of learning and playing all while giving to support The Jimmy Fund at Dana Faber Cancer Institute in Lauren's memory, according to her father, Frank Ciampa.
The clinic is open to girls in grades 4 to 12, with two hours of dedicated skills and training and two hours of scrimmage each day. The clinic takes place at Andover High School from 8 a.m. to noon, Monday and Tuesday.
Players must come with a stick, mouth guard, shin guards and water.
Registration can be completed online at lcclinic.info or the registration form can be mailed to M. Noone at 5 Dodge Road, Rowley, Mass. 01969. People must include name, address, city state and zip code, DOB, grade, position you play or would like to play and email address. People must also fill out the registration medical questions and sign the released statement form. Youth will not be allowed to play without the completed form signed and dated.
The registration fee is $60 and checks should be made out to the Dana Faber Cancer Institute/Jimmy Fund in Memory of Lauren Ciampa. Over the years this field hockey clinic has raised thousands of dollars for the Dana Faber Jimmy Fund Clinic, reported Frank Ciampa.
