Exercise Classes and Registration: The winter semester of exercise classes gets underway this week, the week of Dec. 1. Classes will be offered in strength training for women, tap dancing, low impact aerobics, and modified yoga. The twelve week winter semester will run through Feb. 20. Call the center to see about space availability. Nordic Walking will resume in the spring. Registration for the senior center/"Y" collaborative classes will take place at the center the week of Dec. 15. Classes will be offered in men's exercise, fit-walk, water workout, cardio-flex, senior spinning and water yoga. "Y" membership is not required.

Holiday Homes Trip: We'll be getting into the holiday spirit and heading to Strawberry Banke on Tuesday, Dec. 9. We'll enjoy a guided 90-minute tour visiting five historic homes. Each one will feature decorations, sights, sounds and smells that show the evolution of winter traditions over the centuries. Following our tour, we'll stop at Warren's, where you can decide whether to enjoy their famous salad bar with or without an entree. The cost of the trip is $31, which includes admission, tour and transportation. Lunch is on you.

Book Club Discussion: Thursday, Dec. 18, at 1:30 p.m. Discussions are open to all who enjoy reading a good book and gathering for a friendly discussion. December's selection is "All Souls" by Michael MacDonald. Books are available for check-out from the senior center.

Holiday Craft Fair and Bake Sale: Our annual holiday fair will take place at the center on Friday, Dec. 5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The fair will feature a variety of seasonal decorations, craft and gift items. Poinsettias and holiday plants, knit goods, quilted bags, our fabulous bake table and more. The community is welcome and we appreciate your support.

Andover Chamber Music: Sunday, Dec. 7, at 5 p.m. at South Church, "A Baroque Banquet" is the theme of this year's concert, featuring concertos by Handel, Vivaldi and Bach. Ticket price is $15 if purchased through the center.

Movie Matinee: Monday, Dec. 8, at 1 p.m., no charge, everyone welcome. Come join us as we watch "The Note." It's Christmas time when a struggling newspaper columnist is warned by her editor that she may soon get the axe. Played by Genie Francis, the reporter finds a simple scrap of paper with a profound message that could be the key to saving her column from cancellation. This inspirational drama is based on the novel by Angela Hunt.

Holiday Cookie Trays: Order your cookie trays from us this year. They're available in three sizes and make great hostess gifts as well. Each tray is filled with a variety of items, and is available between now and New Year's. A list of cookie varieties is available at the center and payment is due when your order is placed.

Outdoor Adventures For Women: Friday, Dec. 19 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., pre-registration necessary. If Mother Nature cooperates, we'll head out to enjoy a brisk walk along the Shawsheen River. This will be a relatively easy 3 to 4 miles in length.

New Year's Eve Celebration: Wednesday, Dec. 31, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Advance tickets $3.50. Come help us ring in the new year. There will be food, fun, entertainment with Russ McQueen, and a toast to the year ahead. Get some friends together and join in the fun.

Gardner Museum Trip: Thursday, Jan. 15 at 10 a.m. The cost is $36. Housed in a stunning 15th century Venetian style palace with three stories of galleries surrounding a sun and flower filled courtyard. The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum provides an unusual backdrop for the viewing of art. This beautiful spot will take you away from the New England winter for a few hours, while you admire works by Rembrandt, Michelangelo, Manet, Whistler, Sargent. Containing over 2,500 art works, the museum is the only private art collection in which the building, collection and installation are the creation of one individual. A guided tour will be followed by lunch, your cost, at Faneuil Hall Marketplace.
