The Andover Townsman
---- — Jewelry expert Gloria Lieberman will present her “Immortal Garden” program at the Andover Garden Club membership meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 10 a.m. at South Church, 41 Central St., Andover.
Lieberman will trace the floral motifs used in jewelry design, spanning all periods and highlighting prominent retailers’ designs.
A world-renowned expert on antique jewelry, Lieberman founded Skinner’s Fine Jewelry Department in 1980 and served as its director for 31 years, according to the club.
Many Andover residents will know her from television appearances (the BBC’s Great Antiques Hunt, the PBS series Antiques Roadshow, and the Boston-based series Chronicle) and from her comments in such publications as the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Boston Globe, Yankee Magazine, and Maine Antique Digest.
A frequent lecturer, Lieberman has participated in many educational seminars, including the University of Maine’s Antique Jewelry Seminar and New York University’s Jewelry Appraisers Conference in Tucson, Arizona; she has been invited to speak on behalf of the Society of Jewelry Historians at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.
Lieberman is a teacher and lecturer at Rhode Island School of Design’s (RISD) Decorative Arts program.
