:USS CONSTITUTION: U.S. Navy Commander Matthew Bonner, captain of the USS Constitution will speak on the history and current role of the historic “Old Ironsides” today, Nov. 8 at 1:30 p.m. The center reports the cost is $5.

BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU: Friday, Nov. 9 at 10 a.m., get tips on how to get the most out of the bureau.

STUNNING AND SIMPLE SCARVES: On Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 1 p.m., join this event and go home with a cozy fleece scarf and the skills to make your own items with crocheted and beaded edging. The cost of $10 includes materials.

HIGH TEA AND HISTORY: Talk on “Andover in the Civil War - The Spirit and Sacrifice of a New England Town,” presented Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. Event is free with reservation. Join Civil War enthusiast Mike Morris Jr. as he discusses Joan Silva Patrakis’ book “Andover in the Civil War: The Spirit & Sacrifice of a New England Town” including the battlefield experiences and ravages of disease of Andover men and how the Civil War was remembered by its Andover participants.

MEN’S BREAKFAST: On Friday, Nov. 16 at 8:30 a.m. Robert Forrant, University of Massachusetts Lowell professor and chairman of the Bread & Roses Centennial Committee exhibit, will discuss the history of the 1912 strike that changed the course of labor forever. The cost of the breakfast event is $4.

HAIKU POETRY FOR A WINTER AFTERNOON: Nov. 26 and Dec. 3, 10 and 17 at 1:30 p.m. each day. The cost is $20, which includes a copy of instructor Jeannie Martin’s book “A Line of Light.” In this workshop learn about haiku as a short nature poem of the seasons, read haiku, and do some writing together. No experience with poetry is necessary.

THE BREAKERS MANSION: A trip to Newport, R.I. on Friday, Nov. 30 from 8:30 to 5 p.m. Cost: $52, includes lunch.
