Lending support for the Merrimack Valley YMCA

Local residents joined several hundred supporters at last month’s 23rd annual auction fundraiser to support the Merrimack Valley YMCA.

The benefit evening, together with the YMCA’s Annual Campaign and other events, raises money to ensure that the Y has the resources to strengthen its community and make an impact in the region in the areas of youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

Last month, the Merrimack Valley YMCA broke ground on a $21 million expansion project at its Andover/North Andover branch on Haverhill Street.

Through its fundraising, the YMCA is able to allow is programs and services to continue to be accessible to Merrimack Valley residents, regardless of ability to pay.

The project, which will double the existing facility space, will feature a number of enhancements, including a new childcare development center, an expanded aquatics facility, active living center for older adults and expanded wellness center. It is expected to be completed in about 16 months.
