---- — Vivian Simone has been recognized by the town’s Veterans Services Office for turning 100.
A long time resident of Andover and widow of World War II Army veteran Amando Simone, she was recognized during a special celebration held at the Andover Commons on Railroad Street on Friday, Jan. 4.
“The recognition came as a total surprise to Vivian and she expressed her thanks to those in attendance. However the thanks goes to Vivian; congratulations on [being] 100 years young,” said Michael Burke, the director of Veterans Services.
Burke paid tribute to her patriotism and presented her a plaque signed by the Andover selectmen. In addition to the plaque, Susan Ratyna, member of the Patriotic Holiday Committee, presented her with a floral arrangement.
