He can play the piano, row a boat, impersonate a vampire and carry a tune. Just don't ask the new Mr. AHS any geography questions.
Andover High School junior Casey Schuh was named Mr. AHS 2010, topping six other juniors vying for the crown through sportswear, talent, dream-date and question-and-answer competitions.
In sportswear, during a dream sequence, Schuh rowed a boat in the Olympics (with a river on the video screen behind him), fought off sharks and was overcome by icebergs. For talent, he played the piano and sang a duet with his sponsor Sarah Brown, and for his dream date he pretended to be a vampire whose dream date turned out to be a professional blood donor.
During the question-and-answer session when he was asked what his first act would be if he learned he was the new king of Finland, Schuh said he would find out where Finland is located.
The runner up for Mr. AHS 2010 was Connor Dunbar who gave a powerful drum solo for talent and was a humorous ghost hunter for sportswear.
Contestants in the often tongue-in-cheek competition help each other with their skits. Dunbar served as a memorable overprotective dad for Elliot Cooper's not-so-dream date, and Chris Quartararo played a hilarious Igor to Schuh's vampire.
The contestants, who included Jeremiah Mottram and Jared Rosen, spent more than three hours entertaining the crowd at the Collins Center.
Some other memorable moments from the evening included:
Second runner up Quartararo playing an easily winded Adam West-style Batman for the Sportswear Competition,
Cooper dancing as Napoleon Dynamite during the Talent Competition,
Connor "Sully" Sullivan admitting to a dance addiction during a video for his Sportswear entry; and
performances by the dance team and dance club.
The hosts were Josh Jacobs and Dina Hagigeorges.
