---- — One Andover family got a bit more than they bargained for when their move to a new home brought a film crew to their front door.
The Hyslip family, which includes Wood Hill Middle School teacher Martha Hyslip and West Elementary School first-grade assistant Mariah Hyslip, recently downsized, selling their Hay Bale Road house in favor of a newly built condominium at Muirfield Circle.
After closing on the condo last week, the family called Comcast to set up an installation visit.
What happened next, Martha Hyslip said, seemed like a practical joke. Comcast called back and told her she was its 1 millionth Xfinity X1 customer.
“I thought it was my son. I thought he was tricking me,” Martha Hyslip said. “I said, ‘Am I going to be on the radio tomorrow morning for some kind of hoax?’”
Instead, Comcast brought a film crew to tape the installation of the interactive, high-end television platform for use in an internal company video, according to Comcast spokesman Marc Goodman.
In recognition of the 1 millionth honor, the Hyslips are being rewarded with a free year of phone, Internet and cable service from Comcast, Goodman said.
