An 'extra'-special day

Andover mom, daughter tapped for Travolta movie scene

The Andover Townsman

---- — Five hours of shooting a Hollywood movie scene would exhaust any 7-year-old. And, little Maeve Feeley of Andover, a second-grader at Sanborn School, is no exception.

But, well-known Hollywood actor John Travolta was also in this scene. And while that may not have meant much to Maeve, her mother, Molly Feeley, was thrilled to meet the Hollywood superstar.

Maeve is a patient at Dana-Farber/Boston Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, where she is about halfway through her cancer treatments. The young girl continues to play sports and go to school through it all.

She and about five other pediatric patients happened to be at the hospital’s Natick facility last month when Hollywood called.

Extras were needed for a scene for Travolta’s latest movie project, “The Forger.” The movie is currently being shot around Boston and in Natick.

“There is a scene in the movie where John Travolta is waiting for his son at a doctor’s office. That’s our scene,” Molly Feeley said.

Travolta graciously posed for numerous photographs with the extras and talked a lot about baseball, as he loves the sport.

“He likes the Red Sox and was just really nice ... but he’s quiet, really quiet,” Molly Feeley said.
