Townspets of the Week: Dublin and Dasher

Mini Dachshunds Dublin and Dasher are the proud members of the Gallacher family on Chestnut Street. The long-haired brothers each weigh about 8 pounds and stand roughly 4 feet tall. Dublin is 5 years old and Dasher is 2. They love to spend their days napping in the sun, sniffing for buried walnuts, chasing squirrels in the yard and walking with their neighborhood buddies. Inside, they can be found curled up in a family member’s lap or snuggled together like a pair of cinnamon rolls.

Dublin can do many tricks, including “low-five,” moon-walk and dance. Dasher’s favorite trick is diving on Dublin while he naps in an attempt to get him to play.

In the summer, the pair love to travel with the Gallachers — Monica, Doug, Sophie and Audrey — to the Jersey Shore and Maine, where they have many canine pals. Dublin was recently “married” to his longtime pal, Maggie, a mini labradoodle from Pacific Palisades, Calif. The two “wed” in a seaside ceremony on Capitol Island, Maine, complete with handmade bowties/gowns, bridesmaids, many guests (human and canine) and a fabulous custom cake. Naturally, Dasher stood up for his brother as best man.
