Local foursome aces Boys & Girls Club tourney

The Andover foursome of Patrick James, Adam Geaslen, Ryan Byrd and Dan Bryant made up the winning team at the 35th annual Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence Golf Tournament last month at Indian Ridge Country Club in Andover.

About 220 golfers participated in the tournament, which raised more than $160,000. After the day of golf, which also featured gifts, contests, raffles and continuous refreshments, attendees enjoyed dinner and cocktails while bidding on dozens of silent and live auction items.

The keynote speaker was 2010 BGCL Youth of the Year Greydy Diaz, who interned at NBC Sports before graduating in May from Fairfield University in Connecticut. Larry Yameen of Lawrence was recognized as chairman of the Golf Committee.

The event is one of the club’s largest fundraisers, providing a significant portion of the annual operating budget. The club provides programs focusing on academic success, healthy lifestyles and community involvement for 3,400 area youths ages 7 to 18 at two locations. For more information on the club, visit
