The Andover Townsman

---- — Ticket to fly a la Peter

Andover’s Summer Theatre Ensemble, a drama group for local school kids, is putting the finishing touches on its production of “Peter Pan: The Musical,” which will be staged at the Collins Center the first weekend in August.

In advance of the performance, ensemble founder and producer Elly Seavey of Andover said the group is offering a special promotion that’s worth checking out for anyone who really wants to get in the Peter Pan mood.

Seavey, who co-produces every summer production with Rita Casper of Andover, said anyone who buys advance tickets to the show will be automatically entered into a raffle for a chance to fly across the Collins Center stage during a rehearsal.

“The winner will be in harnesses provided by the special effects company, Flying by Foy, out of Las Vegas,” Seavey said. “We think this will add to the excitement of the show and be great fun for the public.”

Tickets must be purchased by Wednesday, July 24, to be included in the raffle, Seavey said. They cost $20 for adults and $10 for students and seniors, and are available in Andover at Orange Leaf, Learning Express and the town’s Department of Community Services and in North Andover at Mad Maggie’s.

Downtown storefront has nothing to hide

Don’t be fooled by the paper lining the windows of the former home of Andover Gift Shop on Main Street.

While it might appear that the paper is shielding a new tenant from view, that’s not the case, according to the town’s building department. Officials say a permit was pulled to spruce up the inside of the property in hopes of attracting a future tenant.
