A salute to volunteers

Rotary fetes top Citizens, Educator of the Year

A full house was on hand last week to honor the Rotary Club of Andover’s latest class of Citizens Who Care and its Educator of the Year.

Ten individuals who give of themselves for the good of the community together with one distinguished teacher were applauded for their work at the annual recognition dinner on Thursday, May 8, at the Wyndham Andover Hotel.

The 2014 honorees are Citizens of the Year Tim Felter, Paul Dollard, Joan Dollard, Jean Cookson, Esther Kim, Abigail Cohen, Nancy Gump, Charlotte Lyons, Tara McCormick and John McCormick and Educator of the Year Eric Pellerin.

For the last 17 years, the Rotary Club has been recognizing extraordinary volunteers who contribute beyond their normal job descriptions as its annual Citizens Who Care honorees. Six years ago, the club broadened the recognition to include an Educator of the Year.

Gallery portraits of all of the honorees were unveiled at the dinner. Those portraits will now be displayed at various business, banks and public offices throughout town for the remainder of the year as a visible reminder of the spirit of volunteerism, after which they will be archived at the Andover Historical Society.
