Andover woman inspires as PMC Pedal Partner

Catherine Anderson, 20, of Andover, has been named a Pedal Partner of the 34th annual Pan-Massachusetts Challenge and will be honored at Fenway Park this weekend.

As a PMC Pedal Partner, Anderson will be matched with a team of cyclists who will ride in the Aug. 3 to 4 event in her honor. A vital part of the PMC weekend, Pedal Partners inspire more than 5,500 cyclists as they ride up to 190 miles across Massachusetts to raise money for adult and pediatric patient care and cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund.

Anderson was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in December 2012 and is being treated at Dana-Farber’s Jimmy Fund Clinic. Now in its 13th year, the PMC Pedal Partner program matches Jimmy Fund Clinic patients with PMC cyclists.

She will join other Pedal Partners in being honored Sunday, May 19, at Fenway Park in Boston during the PMC Pedal Partner program kick-off party. During the event, Pedal Partners and their families will meet the cyclists riding in their honor while enjoying games, activities and brunch. The PMC Pedal Partner program is sponsored by John Hancock.
