Jo-Ann Carleton’s Pembroke Welch corgi Abigail could very well be called Miracle. The 9-year-old was diagnosed with cancer about a year ago and had to undergo surgery, daily radiation treatment and chemotherapy. The illness required her to take six months off from American Kennel Club competition.
But Abigail came through her treatment and was back agility training and competing in October. On April 26, she earned the Preferred Agility Champion title. Carleton said her fellow competitors shared in the joy because they “have known the challenge Abigail has been through this past year.”
Abigail, who shares Carleton’s County Road home with two other Pembroke Welch corgis, “is a miracle and a once-in-a-lifetime dog,” her owner said.
