Fathers and teenage sons and daughters from Free Christian Church spent three days camping and canoeing 25 miles of the St. Croix River last month.
The St. Croix River forms part of the boundary between Maine and New Brunswick, Canada.
From navigating rapids to cooking chili and biscuits over a campfire, a good time was had by all, said trip organizers. The group of 24 teens and dads left Andover on July 23, driving six hours North.
After receiving instructions in basic river safety and paddling strokes from the guides from Living Waters Wilderness Adventures, the group loaded up their canoes and headed down the river. Andover residents from church shared plenty of laughs while navigating a canoe obstacle course and trying to sink each other's canoes.
"The father/teen canoe trip is awesome because it gets the dads working side-by-side with the teens in an adventurous and fun environment," said Jon Paul, campus pastor at the Elm Street church.
