Five-year-old Roxie, a 4 1/2-pound toy poodle, is a regular presence downtown, where she helps comfort the clients of her owner, Dr. Jayan Marie Landry, a licensed mental health clinical specialist and nurse practitioner who operates her private practice at 68 Main St. Landry says Roxie is a hard-working girl, providing support in therapy sessions four days a week. While Roxie is particularly fond of children, she loves all people and can sense the energy of Landry’s clients, her owner says. “If someone is sad, she sits right next to them. If they are angry or agitated, she sits a bit away from them on the couch,” Landry says, adding Roxie sometimes even sits on clients’ laps and rewards those who bring treats with a kiss on the lips. Roxie is the second pet Landry has received from Steve Richard, a high school friend who owns Richard’s Kennel in Leominster. When she’s not working, Roxie can often be seen walking around town on her breaks. She and Landry live in Andover.
