'Book of Golden Deeds' nominees sought

The Andover Townsman

---- — The Exchange Club of Lawrence is seeking nominations for the next recipient of its Book of Golden Deeds Award. The recipient will join a group of outstanding community members who have received the award over the years.

The Book of Golden Deeds was first awarded in 1919 by the Exchange Club of Huntington, Ind. The award is presented to an individual who has given of himself or herself for the benefit of the community and its people, and whose efforts often go unrecognized. Recipients tend to see service to others as an opportunity, a responsibility and a gift and go above and beyond in carrying out their unsung efforts.

Nominees must live, work or be serving the communities of Andover, North Andover or Lawrence, the three communities the Exchange Club of Lawrence serves. The club is an all-volunteer service organization for men and women who want to serve the Greater Lawrence community, develop leadership skills and enjoy new friendships.

To nominate an individual for the Book of Golden Deeds Award, send a description of the individual and why he or she is worthy of recognition to the Exchange Club of Lawrence, in care of Lori Howe, Family Services of the Merrimack Valley, 430 North Canal St., Lawrence, or by email to lhowe@FSMV.org. Recommendations should be about 500 words or less. The deadline for nominations is Friday, May 2.
