Firing up the grill

Summer for Andover seniors has kicked off in recent years with a grill night on the patio at the Andover Senior Center.

The summer of 2012's series stepped off last Wednesday night, June 27. Grill night features hot dogs, grilled chicken and hamburgers and a weekly special. Steak tips, grilled shrimp and salmon are among the specials.

"We had a great crowd and local high schoolers helped serve the food and we had live piano music - a great night for just a few dollars," said Karen Payne-Taylor.

There are five grill nights each summer and the next one is Wednesday, July 11 at 5 p.m. Dinner costs $4.50 to $9 and includes side dishes, dessert and beverages. Reservations are a must. Call the Andover Senior Center at 978-623-8321.

The popular lobster dinner at the center will be Saturday, July 21. It costs $18. Reservations are a must.
