Camp party makes splash

More than 350 Andover youths involved with town-run summer day camp programs attended the annual goodbye-to-summer party at Pomps Pond last Thursday, Aug. 9 - four weeks before school starts on Thursday, Sept. 6.

Kids from All Day Discovery, Drop-in Playgrounds and Best Buddies summer programs had fun competing in a biggest splash contest, canoe races and scavenger hunts, and eating ice cream. Recreation Coordinator Kim Stamas said the party happens every year as Pomps Pond gets ready to close for the season. Pomps Pond and the day-camp programs are run through the town’s Department of Community Services.
