The town of Andover has a new app.

At a recent Select Board meeting, Patrick Lawlor, assistant town manager, talked about a new app called Andover Central, which is available in app stores now.

The app allows residents to view the public meetings calendar, pay bills, request a service, view upcoming community events and more, said Lawlor.

“I am super excited about the app, it helps people choose what they want to focus on,” said Select Board Chair Alex Vispoli at the meeting.

Lawlor said the app will be replacing an older app that was a bit too similar to the town’s website.

“It was almost like an app that brought you to the website,” Lawlor said. “This is more of standalone app that provides a little bit more features.”

Additionally there is also work being done to redesign the town’s website, which was launched in 2016 and hasn’t changed much.

Also discussed at the meeting was Andover’s 311 service, which according to Lawlor, fields calls from residents on a number of subjects and departments.

Lawlor called the number “non-emergency information.”

“You can call 311 and if it is in the geographical boundaries of Andover, from the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., you will reach a town employee,” Lawlor said.

Lawlor said the service can be called for request surrounding anything from downed trees and potholes to missed trash pickups.
