Girl scouts, ages 7-11, are invited to attend special "Girl Scout Afternoons" at the Andover Historical Society, on Wednesdays, March 17 and April 14, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. The cost for this pre-registered program in $8 per Scout, which includes a snack and all craft supplies.

March 17 Girl Scout Afternoon: Manners and Decorum

Every girl needs to understand manners and decorum to be successful today, but what were the lessons like in the 1800s when girls were taught how to be a fine young lady? In this Girl Scout Afternoon, girls will learn manners, try some 19th century pasttimes suitable for young ladies, and learn how to properly behave at the tea table.

April 14, Girl Scout Afternoon: Little House on the Prairie in Andover?

Did you know the ancestors of Laura Ingalls Wilder, author of the Little House on the Prairie books, lived here in Andover? In this Girl Scout Afternoon, girls will explore what it might have been like to travel West with the Ingalls family, have a "historic" treat, learn to dance, and make a pierced "tin" lantern.
