St. Augustine kindergarten through second grade students enjoyed some inside exercise this fall and learned the value of teamwork and good sportsmanship as members of the school's Junior Basketball Team, said teacher Karen Landers.
Players met after school for practice, learning the basics of dribbling and shooting, and delighting in the sound of their sneakers squeaking on the gymnasium floor, reporterd Landers. The fifth-grade teacher hosted the club for its second season with first grade teacher Sr. Kathleen Leary.
Junior Basketball was one of several after school clubs offered at St. Augustine School this fall, along with computer/video broadcasting, chess, and "Mad Scientists."
This winter will see the return of "Mini Sticks Hockey" and "Dinosaur Club." All clubs are offered once a week for eight weeks.
