LAWRENCE — The Lawrence Rotary Club will hold a fundraising dance at the Relief’s In, 1 Market St., Lawrence, on Friday, Oct. 25, from 6 to 10 p.m.

Tickets are $50 each, which includes entertainment and a buffet dinner.

Proceeds from the event will go toward the Rotary Club’s programs for children in the city, including a new collaboration between the Police Department, the Probation Department and schools called “HELP” (Heroin Epidemic Lawrence Partnership).

The program sends police officers into middle school and high school classrooms, where they meet with students to talk about the dangers of opioid use, according to a Rotary Club press release.

In cases where students are suspected to be using these drugs, efforts are made to intervene and arrange treatment, hopefully avoiding arrest.
