It was fun in the sun on bikes and trikes for local kids but the adults on-hand were more focused on safety.

Representatives from Lawrence General Hospital fitted helmets on the heads of the youngsters who attended the bike safety and wellness fair at the Punchard Center parking lot off Whittier Street in Andover Saturday.

Meanwhile, the mechanics from Pedalin' Fools, a mobile bike service company that covers Southern New Hampshire and the Merrimack Valley, helped tune up bicycles to make sure they could operate safely.

Andover's 2nd Annual Bike Rodeo & Wellness Fair ran from  10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and was open to all ages and included bike safety checks, helmet fittings, wellness resources, food, a bounce house, a DJ, and prizes. Kids brought their own bikes and had a chance to take a ride on the safety course for a chance to win a new bike.

The event was presented by the town of Andover's Department of Community Services, Andover Board of Health, and Andover Public Safety.
