The Windham Community Band will open Andover's 2011 summer series of free concerts with a performance at the Park, at the corner of Bartlet and Chestnut streets, on Wednesday, July 6 at 6 p.m.

The Windham Community Band was established in May 1997 with eight members and now has about 40 total members. All band members are volunteers. They range in age from teens to seniors and come from a variety of backgrounds, including music teachers, doctors, technical professionals, business people, students, and retirees. Many reside in the small southern New Hampshire town of Windham.

Some of the pieces the band has played are: "A Copland Portrait," "Carmen Suite," "Swingin Yanks," "A Salute to Spike Jones," "Stars and Stripes Forever," "Bugler's Holiday," "Lord of the Rings," and "Amarito Roca."
