Andover teenager Olivia Li was recognized recently as a National Gold Medal winner in ceramics by the Alliance of Artists and Writers from New York's Scholastic Magazine, said Jim Batchelder, Andover High School art teacher.

Li received her award at Carnegie Hall. One hundred sixty-five thousand American teenage artists and writers competed, and 700 students and teachers received gold medals. Li's was in ceramics.

Li also won a certificate and gold medal from a Boston newspaper's art competition this year.

Li is now a student at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, reports Batchelder.

She is the daughter of Peter and Jean Li of Copley Drive in Andover.
