It really was rocket science, well sort of.

Kids used their imagination to plan, build and test their own rocket designs and launch them across the room at Memorial Hall Library. Then, they had to engineer a way for them to safely return to Earth.

The workshop was hosted by the Museum of Science, and allowed kids to explore the science behind rockets and space exploration.

Kids had to build structures to make their astronauts hover at certain heights in airflow tubes that represented Earth and Mars — the Earth tube containing greater airflow than Mars.

An exercise with a balloon clipped at the bottom and strung onto fish wire through a straw, represented how the air released from the balloon is like rocket fuel.
