A bench will be dedicated in honor of Warren "Buster" Deyermond, who died while fighting in the Vietnam War.

The dedication will be Sept. 27 at noon.

The dedication ceremony, to be held at Deyermond Park, comes around the 50th anniversary of Deyermond's death. The bench will sit next to a memorial there that is already dedicated in his name.

Veterans Services Director Mark Comeiro said the granite bench will be a gift from the American Legion. Members of the legion will speak at the ceremony, and Comeiro will serve as the master of ceremonies.

"It's great to be a part of something that's an addition to a staple in the community," Comeiro said. "The memorial is already there and now we get to add to it, and I get to be a part of that."

The event is open to the public.
