ANDOVER – Police detectives are investigating the death of a 52-year-old resident of Quail Run who was found unconscious on the stairs to his home on Thursday afternoon.

According to police records, a call was received at 3:26 p.m. from the victim’s sister, who said that she “just found her brother in a stairwell unconscious and does not think he is breathing.”

After arriving at the home, officers began CPR, and Andover Fire Department then transported the man to Lawrence General Hospital where he was pronounced dead, Police Commander Charles Heseltine said.

When asked to elaborate on the physical condition of the man upon police arrival, Heseltine said that he could not say more, because it is under investigation.

According to Carrie Kimball Monahan, spokeswoman for District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett, the State Police Unit responded to the scene, as is required by law for every unattended death, and the matter is under investigation but is not considered suspicious.

The Medical Examiner will be conducting an autopsy, Heseltine said.
