Residents can help support their planet and their wallet while finding something special for their home this weekend.
The Andover Department of Community Service is hosting its annual Giant Yard Sale on Saturday, April 23. Held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., DCS describes the event as "an Earth Day party in The Park," and DCS Director Mary Montbleau said, "Bargains can be found all over the Park in every corner and on both sides of the sidewalk. Sections on the lawn will be full of items for you to browse.
"[You can] buy something from your neighbor, or meet someone you haven't seen in awhile. It's like a townwide block party. Over 90 families have already signed on to sell you their treasures," said a release from Montbleau. "Shoppers will find so many great deals! Swing by on your way through the downtown area either before or after your errands."
Among the items for sale will be household and kitchen items, baby and children's clothing, doll accessories, books, knickknacks, toys, sports equipment, decorative pieces and an "assortment of treasured recyclables that you can put to a new use."
The Park is located at the corner of Bartlet and Chestnut streets. If it rains, the Giant Yard Sale will be held Saturday, May 28. Residents who want to sell some items, can purchase late spots before 4 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, April 22, for $10 per spot.
