Andover firefighters started the month of July flipping pancakes at the town's annual Fourth of July celebration and closed the month with their annual Fire Engine Day at The Park last Thursday.
Toddlers climbed, beeped and explored a fire engine while meeting real firefighters. Most toddlers wore a bathing suit as they were hosed down by the fire engine's hose, while squealing in delight, under a hot sun.
The next Park event for toddlers is Aug. 1, when the town hosts Truck Day and the police and public works departments will park their vehicles to view and explore. That event will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and costs $7 per child. An arts and crafts project is also planned.
