This car flies, sails the seas

CARL RUSSO/Staff photoSitting in the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car are these student actors: eighth-graders Nate Allen playing Caratacus Potts and Alicia Zhang as Truly Scrumptious, in the front seat; and, in the back seat from left, sixth-grader Aria Fraser playing Jemima Potts, seventh-grader Lucas Newmark-Ramirez as Grandpa Potts and seventh-grader Jonathan Oatman as Jeremy Potts.

The car plays a key role in "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Jr.'' and the budding thespians at Wood Hill Middle School will give the car star treatment when they stage a show this weekend.

The audience will take a fantastic musical adventure with an out-of-this-world car that flies through the air and sails the seas.

The students' presentation is based on the beloved film "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.'' Organizers at the school said their interpretation of the play promises to be just as entertaining as the original.

Students in grades six to eight are in the cast. The play is directed by Sarah Govoni and Lori Pratt, accompanied by Ame Matuza. Technical direction is by Cindy Sullivan.
