On the one-year anniversary of the Sept. 13, 2018, gas disaster, Andover will host a gathering to recognize the efforts and resiliency of the community that day and the months that followed.

Over the past 12 months, Andover, as well as Lawrence and North Andover, have worked to recover and rebuild their senses of community after being rocked by a disaster that displaced thousands of residents from their homes. That work continues today.

The gathering will be on Friday, Sept. 13, at Old Town Hall from 3 to 6 p.m.

Community groups will provide music and performances, and there will also be a variety of family-friendly activities, according to organizers.

Organizers said the focus will be on "recognizing Andover’s community spirit and all that Andover has to offer as a shopping and dining destination.''
