There’s a lot to do at Memorial Hall Library on February. Here’s what’s in store 

<\Bz14f”sans-serif”>The Whys & Hows of Meditation,<\z14f”sans-serif”> Thursday, Feb. 5, 7 p.m. David Eyerman, a licensed acupuncturist and co-owner of Clear and Now Holistic Healing Center in Andover, explores the practice of meditation, and how it can help calm one’s mind, ease anxiety, improve your everyday quality of life and be the foundation for profound personal growth and healing. Open to those who have wanted to try meditation, but don’t know where to start; have tried meditating before and were frustrated; or have experience with meditation and are looking to expand and deepen their practice. <\Bz14f”sans-serif”>Albino Mbie and Friends in Concert,<\z14f”sans-serif”> Sunday, Feb. 8, 2:30 p.m. The Friends of MHL Concert Series will present Berklee College of Music graduate Albino Mbie with Senegalese drummer Lamine Touré, saxophone player Lihi Haruvi, and bassist Chuks Okpu. Mbie won first place in the 2013 International Songwriting Competition in the category of World Music. He’s performed around the world, and his music reflects influences from his native Mozambique, as well as jazz. 

<\Bz14f”sans-serif”>Why Chocolate is the Perfect Drug,<\z14f”sans-serif”> Thursday, Feb. 12, 7 p.m. Dr. Mike Cross, instructor of chemistry at Northern Essex Community College, will discuss the biochemistry of chocolate; a chocolate tasting will accompany the program. Sponsored by Northern Essex Community College and the Friends of MHL.

<\Bz14f”sans-serif”>Sleep Your Way to a Healthy Heart,<\z14f”sans-serif”> Sunday, Feb. 22, 2 p.m. Dr. Kenneth Sassower will present the latest medical research connecting sleep apnea, hypertension, and heart health, as well as strategies for preventing and treating a wide range of sleep issues. A question-and-answer session will follow the talk. Dr. Sassower is a triple board-certified neurologist, specializing in sleep disorders and epilepsy at Massachusetts General Hospital. This program is part of Hadassah’s national campaign initiative “Every Beat Counts: Hadassah’s Heart Health Program.” The program is sponsored by Memorial Hall Library and the Merrimack Valley Chapter of Hadassah.

<\Bz14f”sans-serif”>LWV @ the Library: Forest Management: Nature or Nurture?,<\z14f”sans-serif”> Thursday, Feb. 19, 7 p.m. in the library’s Activity Room. Kevin Porter, vice chairman of the Conservation Commission, will use Andover forests to lead a discussion of the pros and cons of management versus letting nature take its course.
