Last weekend’s unseasonably warm weather provided the perfect opportunity to get out and explore the fields and forests comprising Charles Ward Reservation that straddles Andover and North Andover.

The Trustees of Reservations, in partnership with the Andover Trails Committee and Friends of North Andover Trails, hosted the annual Ward Winter Fun Day — a community favorite — on Saturday.

Both first-time visitors and regulars to the property off Prospect Road enjoyed a variety of guided hikes as well as refreshments by a roaring fire. Groups traversed Judy Trail, climbed Boston Hill and hiked around Holt Hill and the bog.

The property, which includes 14 miles of trails, is one of 111 owned, managed and cared for by The Trustees of Reservations, the nation’s oldest, statewide land trust.
