The Rotary Club of Andover is welcoming a pair of speakers with local ties to its final two Friday morning meetings of the month.
This Friday, March 20, Andover resident Shawn W. Carroll, who has worked with CBRE/New England since 1999, will discuss his career.
Carroll has managed properties in Woburn, Billerica, Wakefield and Boston. He is the general manager responsible for the Fan Pier project in Boston. He earned his Bachelor of Science in business management from Boston College and is a U.S. Navy veteran, having served onboard the aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN-73)
Next Friday, March 27, Heather Arvidson, who grew up in Andover, will discuss her work with the Peace Corps.
The 2007 graduate of Andover High School first heard about the Peace Corps while on a mission trip with her church youth group during high school. As her undergraduate work at Colby College in Maine was winding down, she applied for the Peace Corps and left on her first assignment to Swaziland in June 2012. She spent two years there working as a volunteer at a small rural primary school, where she kept busy doing a variety of things, from teaching computer skills to starting a library
Arvidson will be discussing her work in southern Africa at the Rotary meeting, highlighting how the Peace Corps allows volunteers to give their time and energy to their communities.
The Rotary Club of Andover meets Friday mornings at 7:30 at the Lanam Club, 260 North Main St., Andover. Anyone with an interest in a particular speaker or topic is welcome to attend.
