Editor, Townsman:

As a current high school student who has benefited from quality preschool, I believe that all children have the right to access early childhood education. As a student ambassador for Save the Children Action Network (SCAN), a political advocacy group that strives to help the most deprived and marginalized children, I strongly advocate for both SCAN and our children.

In Massachusetts, 53 percent of families live in child care deserts, where there are more than three children for every licensed child care slot. This is a significant problem that needs to be addressed, both in the greater Boston community and across the country.

We need to invest in our kids— they are our future. I hope that by working with everyone, including my senators and representative, we can make a step towards ensuring early childhood education for all children. Therefore, I hope that Sen. Warren, Sen. Markey, and Rep. Moulton will be a champion for kids and cosponsor the Child Care Workforce and Facilities Act of 2019. Investments in our children are the most important ones that we can make.
