To the editor:

The Shawsheen Luncheonette closed its doors on June 30th after 50-plus years in business. Amy and Brian Guay have run the diner flawlessly for the past 30 years. The wonderfully delicious food is only part of the story — the true story is the friendship and family atmosphere that has kept me coming back for breakfast or lunch multiple times a week for 20-plus years.

I owe them a huge debt of gratitude for nourishing me with food and friendship. I am so sad for the community as the closing of this town treasure is a loss for all its customers. Amy and Brian deserve accolades, awards and the highest recognition for their part in serving the community with love, laughter and amazing food! I wish them a wonderful retirement and I know the future holds fabulous things for them!
