I would like to respectfully discuss the decision on your part to publish the picture on the front page of last week's edition, dated Jan. 7, of the gentleman standing in line at the Market Basket in North Andover.
Yes, he is wearing a mask. However, by not covering his nose, he is wearing it incorrectly and is exposing everyone to his respiratory pathogens.
Having your mouth or nose exposed does not help "to stop the spread of the COVID-19," as your caption states. Publishing such a photo tells people that it is OK to wear a mask in this manner, and it is not.
I appreciate this gentleman's service to our country and do not want to diminish that in any way. I only wish to point out that "to stop the spread of COVID-19" and to protect those around us, we need to wear a mask correctly.
