We are fortunate in this region to be close to some of the best hospitals in the world in a nearby city. As people get older when health issues can become more serious, we are particularly grateful for that kind of care.
However, it is hard to get into Boston. Traffic has gotten so challenging that what should take 30 minutes can take up to two hours.
That is why I support – and am looking forward to – the planned Mass. General Brigham comprehensive care site in Woburn. I have trusted doctors at Mass. General Brigham for years.
I currently either go into Boston or to the Waltham site, but both of these seem to get further and further away. A basic doctor’s appointment can take a full day with travel plus the cost of parking.
The added stress is detrimental to health.
When the Mass. General Brigham Woburn site opens, we will have access to the kind of care available at Mass. General Brigham closer to home. There will be primary care as well as specialists.
Most of the kinds of procedures that people need, like day surgery, will be offered. This will eliminate the need for patients, like me, who choose to get care at a Mass. General Brigham facility to get the exact same health services without the hassle of travel.
I look forward to this facility coming to Woburn and serving the Andover community.
