LOWELL — Andover girls basketball earned its third straight trip to the TD Garden, home of the Boston Celtics, with a 61-53 win over Cape Ann foe Masconomet on Saturday in the Division 1 North final at the Tsongas Center.
Just two days after being named Gatorade Player of the Year for the second straight season, Nicole Boudreau was again outstanding. She scored 29 points, including three 3-pointers in the first quarter and all 12 of Andover's points in the second. She also added nine rebounds and nine steals.
"Hopefully two left," said Boudreau. "I've started looking back a little bit, but I'm trying not to."
Devon Caveney continued to shine with 12 points and Ally Fazio chipped in with 10 points, including a trio of 3-pointers.
In the fourth, the Chieftains closed to within 10 with 53 seconds to play, but were unable to get any closer than six on three free throws by Danielle Davis with 4.6 seconds remaining.
"We knew that was going to happen going into the game," said Fazio. "They're a great team. We've watched them twice now, and we kind of expected they'd make a run."
