Editor’s Note: Throughout the summer, The Andover Townsman will take a look back at Andover High stars from the past 20 years through pictures. This week, we start with Andover High baseball.

Few baseball programs in Massachusetts have matched Andover’s High’s consistent success over the past 20 years. The Golden Warriors are regularly among the top contenders in Division 1 North, led by Hall of Fame head coach Ken Maglio and current longtime coach Dan Grams.

That success starts with pitching, an area Andover has excelled in over the past two decades.

The century began with aces like Kevin Shepard (AHS 2001), Dan Godefroi (‘07) and John Farrell (‘09), and more recently Cedric Gillette (‘18) and Josh Gruenberg (‘19). Gruenberg led Andover to the Division 1 North final last year.

The Golden Warriors have also been dangerous at the plate, with players including speedy Cam Farnham (‘13), Timmy Kalantzakos (‘17) and John Hennessy (‘10) joining the likes of Shepard and Godefroi among the top bats to wear Gold and Blue.
