Andover High roundup Undefeated girls tennis rolls past fellow unbeaten Austin Prep

Girls Tennis

Undefeated Andover dealt Austin Prep its first loss of the season, winning 4-1 on Friday. Doubles teams Eva McKone and Carol Yu (No. 1) and Sonika Chaudhary and Elysia Yu (No. 2) both won 6-2, 6-0, while Jennie Wang and Rachel Chen each had a singles win.

Isabel Zhou (No. 1 singles) and Rachel Chen (No. 2 singles) each earned sweeps as Andover topped Tewksbury 5-0 last Tuesday. Evie O’Brien won No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-2.

Boys Track

Moses takes two

Conor Moses won the javelin (145-5) and 110 hurdles (15.6), but Andover lost to Central Catholic 87-55 last Wednesday. Colin Kim won the 800 (2:05.6) while DJ Walsh won the mile (4:49.7) and teamed with Cameron Kirn, George Stoica and Neil Chowdhury to take the 4x400 (3:49.6).

Baseball

Ritter, Brown spark offense

 Aidan Ritter and Scotty Brown each had two hits, scored two runs and drove in one as Andover crushed Tewksbury 11-1 last Tuesday. Chase Lembo, Nolan Schirmer and P.J. Reming each notched two RBIs. Anthony Teberio was the winning pitcher.

 

Boys Lacrosse

Manger nets four

Ryan Magner scored four goals, leading Andover to a 16-0 victory over Haverhill last Tuesday. Kiernan Florio, Erik Aulbach, Colin MacLean and Brendan Sheedy each scored twice for the winners.

Girls Lacrosse

Gobiel scores six

Tess Gobiel netted six goals, leading Andover to a 17-5 win over Tewksbury last Thursday. Jack Brussard, Vanessa Pierni and Haley Carver each scored twice for the winners.

Boys Tennis

Zeng, Yu lead the way

Bryan Zeng and Kevin Yu swept top doubles and Andover beat Tewksbury 4-1 last Tuesday. Akarsh Janarthanan took top singles and Abhay Yajurvedi won No. 2 singles.

Wrestling

McNeeley sparks massive rally

Down 30-0, Andover won the next seven weight classes and defeated Tewksbury 42-33 last Tuesday. Max McNeeley started it all with a first period pin at 145 pounds. Connor Sheehan won the team’s fastest pin (1:05 at 170 pounds) while Miles Fraser battled for a pin in 5:35.

Girls Track

Levental stars in sprints

Peyton Levental won the 100 dash (12.9), Olivia Foster took the pole vault (9.6) and they teamed with Sophia Hutchins and Michaela Buckley to win the 4x100 (52.8) but Andover fell to Central Catholic 81-63 last Wednesday. Sara Folan added a win in the javelin while Molly Kiley took the 800.

Boys Volleyball

Lai’s effort for naught

Edward Lai tallied 26 digs, but Andover lost to Lowell 3-1 last Tuesday. Akshay Godhani added 29 assists and Owen Chanthaboun scored 14 service point.
