Conor Moses won the Division 1 North championship in the javelin with a throw of 163-2 to highlight Andover High at the Division 1 North Meet on Saturday, The Golden Warriors placed 13th as a team (19 points).

It was a huge improvement for Moses, who threw 136-2 for fifth at the MVC Meet two weeks ago.

The team of Colin Kirn, Cameron Kirn, DJ Walsh and Neil Chowdhury placed third in the 4x800 relay in 8:06.38 for the Golden Warriors.


Giordano in control

Jackie Giordano threw a 5-hitter, with 7 strikeouts and no walks as Andover beat Lexington in the Division 1 North prelims on Friday. Adelaide Weeden clocked a 215-foot, two-run homer over the fence in left. Paige Gillette had two hits and Molly Duval 2-out double plated the winning run. The Golden Warriors were scheduled to face Westford Academy on Monday.



Maita, Warriors end with bang

Heavyweight Yasser Maita clinched a 39-33 victory for Andover over Haverhill with a third period pin. It was the Warriors’ fifth straight win to conclude a 7-3 season last Tuesday. Max McNeely (145) added a pin in 1:30 and Sean Ballou (195) had a pin in 1:43 for the winners. The Golden Warriors declined to participate in the postseason dual meet tournament.

Andover advances

Andover defeated Lexington 10-5 in the Division 1 first round on Friday. No scorers were reported. The Golden Warriors were scheduled to face Chelmsford on Monday.

Boys Volleyball

Lai, Amurault star in losses

Edward Lai had 11 service points and 14 digs, but Andover fell to Winchester 3-0 in the first round of the North tournament on Friday. Jyles Amirault added 12 kills and Akshay Godhani chipped in with 21 assists for the Golden Warriors.


Despite 23 kills and five aces for Jyles Amurault, Andover fell to Chelmsford 3-1 last Monday. Akshay Godhani added 35 assists and Zach Dutton had 12 service points for the Warriors.

Girls Lacrosse

Gobiel’s effort for naught

Despite six goals for Tess Gobiel, Andover lost to Billerica 13-12 in the Division 1 North preliminary round on Friday. Vanessa Pierni and Hailey Doherty each scored twice for the Golden Warriors.

Girls Track

Folan, Kiley take fourth

Sarah Folan took fourth in the javelin with a 105-9 as Andover placed ninth as a team (45.5 points) at the Division 1 North meet on Saturday.

Molly Kiley added a fourth in the 2-mile (11:25.65) and Kathleen Yates was seventh in the javelin (95-11) for the Golden Warriors.

Andover’s Michaela Buckley, Peyton Levental, Olivia Foster and Rose Tarbox were fifth in the 4x100 relay (50.66)

This week’s Games

The Andover High baseball team was scheduled to open its postseason on Monday against Newton North.

The Andover boys tennis team will face Boston Latin in the Division 1 North quarterfinals, while the Golden Warrior girls tennis squad will ace Newton North on Monday.
