Eugenie Moffitt certainly made her first career varsity home run a very memorable one, blasting a seventh-inning homer to give Andover an 8-7 walkoff victory over Masconomet on Friday. Moffitt also tripled and singled, Lauren Giacchetto had two hits and scored twice and Amy Stankiewicz drove in three runs and was the winning pitcher.
Tori Roche managed Andover’s lone hit in a 6-0 loss to North Andover last Wednesday.
Doubles fight to win
The No. 3 doubles team of Pooja Mukund and Karena Yan earned the toughest victory of the day, a 6-0, 7-6 (7-1) win as Andover won its 14th straight match, beating Masconomet 5-0 last Thursday. Julia Alagero and Laurie-Maude Chenard took No. 1 doubles and Samantha Camilo took top singles.
Paige Webster earned a tough 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 2 singles to guide Andover to a 5-0 defeat of Haverhill last Wednesday. Julia Alagero and Laurie-Maude Chenard combined to take No. 1 doubles and Pooja Mukund took third singles.
Samantha Camilo won top singles 6-2, 6-1 to lead Andover to a 5-0 win over North Andover last Tuesday. Rachel Holzman (6-1, 6-1) and Paige Webster (6-1, 6-2) earned wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles respectively.
Sam Mack and Sam Rowe combined to take No. 1 doubles 6-1, 6-1 to help Andover beat Methuen 5-0 last Wednesday. Sicco Huizing and Amith Bhaksara scored a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 2 doubles and Kellen McAuliffe earned a tough 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles.
Sebastian Boulas and Drew Rooks battled for a 7-6, 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles, but Andover lost to Wellesley 3-2 last Thursday. Austin Bendetson earned the Warriors’ other win, with a victory at No. 1 singles.
Warriors snap skid
Kenny Doherty recorded 14 service points and Alec Dean had 1 kills as Andover downed Haverhill 25-22, 25-17, 25-17 on Monday. T.J. Norton chipped in with 28 assists and Kyle Surehan had seven digs for the winners.
Kenny Doherty scored team-highs with nine blocks and 16 service points for Andover, which lost to Lexington 25-23, 21-24, 28-26, 25-22 on Friday. Alec Dean chipped in with 15 kills and Kyle Surehan had seven digs and four aces for the Warriors.
Two hits for Giammasi
Nathaniel Giammasi collected two hits and drove in a run, but Andover fell to archrival Central Catholic 8-3 on Friday. Chris Dunn also had two hits and Cam Farnham and Andy Nason each drove in a run for the Warriors.
Jake Muhlfelder was 2 for 2 and Alex Brickman was 3 for 3 and scored a run, but Andover lost to Chelmsford 7-3 last Tuesday. Cam Farnham also scored a run for the Warriors.
Jack Cox had one of Andover’s three hits in a 2-0 loss to Londonderry (N.H.) on Saturday. Nathanie Giammasi and Chris Dunn each also had a hit.
Brosnan scores winner
Justin Brosnan scored twice, including the game-winner in the fourth as Andover beat Masconomet 6-5 on Monday. Hunter Tyrrell also scored twice and John Oteri and Tyler Weeks scored one goal each for the winners.
Hunter Tyrrell scored a hat trick as Andover extended its winning streak to 10 games by beating pesky Lexington 5-3 last Wednesday. Tyler Weeks and Andrew Eriksen each added a goal and Walter Pappas made eight saves for the winners.
Despite three goals by Justin Brosnan, Andover lost to Billerica 6-4 on Friday.
Keefe tallies four
Meagan Keefe scored four goals and nine other players scored at least once as Andover rolled over Chelmsford 18-6 last Tuesday. Mackenzie Billings scored three goals and Charlotte Lenes, Jaclyn Torres and Hannah Bramhall each added a pair of goals.
