The Northeast Independent Living Program, Inc. held its 35th Annual Meeting and Celebration at The Wyndham Boston Andover Hotel recently.
Nearly 200 people attended, giving program participants, state senators, representatives, local officials, and others the opportunity to meet with constituents to discuss important current issues affecting the lives of local people with disabilities and their families.
NILP is working to provide innovative solutions that safeguard and expand community-based programs and support independence for people with disabilities.
The NILP provides advocacy, skills training, peer counseling, information and referral, and nursing home transition services for people with disabilities who wish to live independently.
The organization empowers people with disabilities to make changes in their lives and become more self-sufficient and self-reliant. The NILP’s philosophy is essentially that people with disabilities are the best determinants of their own needs and service choices.
NILP encourages an all-inclusive community of support that is free of architectural, communication, attitudinal, and economic barriers for people with disabilities.
